Eileen passed away peacefully on March 29, 2016. She was born on a farm in Weller, Iowa. She attended Albia High School and moved to Chicago, IL after WWII. She and her husband Gus settled in Mount Prospect, IL in 1961 to raise their daughter and live near Eileen’s sisters Marge and Mildred.

In 2001, Eileen relocated to San Mateo, CA to be close to her daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. She valued faith and family above all else.

Eileen is survived by her daughter Kimberly (Dirk) Diefendorf, grandchildren Ryan, Kevin, Dana and Lauren, sisters Mildred Engelson and Maxine Brozovich and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death in 1990 by her husband Gus Vack, sister Marge Ringe Pease, brothers Vincent Shovlain and John Shovlain, and her beloved parents Mary Flahive Shovlain and Thomas Timothy Shovlain.

She will always remain in our hearts and will be deeply missed by all who were privileged to have known her.

Visitation Friday, April 8, at Friedrichs Funeral Home,320 W. Central Road (at Northwest Highway), Mount Prospect, IL from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00p.m.

Her funeral Mass will be held Saturday, April 9, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Raymond de Penafort Catholic Church, Elmhurst Road (Route 83) at Lincoln St., Mount Prospect.

Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery.
